| The Characters |
Gwenaella, a student at a convent, wants
nothing more than to marry the man she loves. Forced to bargain with a
sorceress to save the life of her brother, she instead sets out on a
pilgrimage as perilous as any crusade. She has sworn on the sanctity of
her soul to find Eden and return with fruit from the Tree of Life. Her
innocence and faith may gain her admittance to Eden, but provides little
protection from the dangers she must face as she seeks the hidden
garden. Gwenaella and her companions will cross war torn Europe, decadent Outremer, the decaying Caliphate and much of India in their search for the world’s roof where they hope to find Eden. Gwenaella’s journey is as much a spiritual one as a physical one, and she must strive for grace while facing monsters, demons, corrupt men as well as her own love for one of the knights who accompanies her. In the end she must choose between keeping her promise and loose the man she loves, or saving his life and losing her soul. |
